Tier One by Brian Andrews, Jeffrey Wilson

Tier One is a story about the establishment of a secret, undercover intelligence and paramilitary group that operates outside of the usual chain of command. As a former Navy Seal, John Dempsey is dragged into this world, and is tasked with fighting terrorists using methods which might not be acceptable to most ordinary people.

This book reminded me heavily of the Rainbow Six series by Tom Clancy, at least in the general sense. That is, until I realised that most of the characters are fairly interchangeable. When I finished this book I really struggled to recall what the book was actually about, and this is its greatest downfall – it’s ultimately forgettable in a genre which is swamped with books at the moment.

Tier One was a thrill while it lasted, but fails to stand out.

I received a review copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
